Plot Summary
[]

Dr. Strangesnork is in town, and he intends on using his Permanent Wave Machine to flatten Snorkland and turn it into his own images, even with street signs all named after him. In the meantime, Gallio and the snorks are doing some spring cleaning inside his lab. Daffney shows up late, only because she's trying her best to be like Jane Flounder, her current favorite icon. She then comments on how she has style compared to her friends, and that they dress boring. As this goes on. the machine causes waves to be made, thus making the lab dirtier than before.

Within that mess, Daffney finds the red power pearl, and decides to keep it as a hair ornament resembling the one Jane Flounder already has in her hair. However, Dr. Strangesnork wants to use that same power pearl for his machine so that it would be more productive in flattening Snorkland. He happens to spot her wearing it, so he follows her into a health and fitness club, although he gets thrown out for not being a girl. He then decides to disguise himself as one and try to steal the pearl from Daffney when she's not looking. However, the head of the club catches him each time, so she makes him walk twenty miles on the treadmill as well as attach him to a slingshot.

Bruno, the other head of the club, then tells Daffney that Jane Flounder will be coming to the Neptune Vitamin Shop that same afternoon where she will be signing "watergraphs." Considering Daffney wants to dress exactly like her for the occasion, she goes to the hair salon to get her hair and style done. Dr. Strangesnork disguises himself as a hair stylist, only to get busted by that same lady once more for messing up her hair. He then decides to disguise himself as Jane when she comes by. At that moment, Daffney sees all the other female snorks dressed just like her, making her feel less unique. She ditches the outfit and the pearl, telling her friends if she wants to be different, she needs to be herself. Dr. Strangesnork ends up getting the pearl and using it for the machine, but it goes haywire. He then remembers that Gallio only threw it out because it has caused all machines to short circuit.

Background Info
[]

  • Second appearance of Dr. Strangesnork and Finneus
  • First time Daffney is shown giving strong opinions about her friends directly to them
  • This is also the first time Daffney talks about lifting heavy weights, although she can actually be seen doing just that in Which Snork Snitched

Memorable Quotes[]

Dr. Strangesnork: *to Finneas* My permanent wave machine works, but you don't. It's times like these, I wish I had a dogfish for an assistant.

Workout Lady: You'd better shape up - that means 20 miles on this treadmill - now!

Dr. Strangesnork: Twenty miles?! Since when does a bad guy have to be in good shape?! *moans*

Errors[]

  • Rough transitions between scenes occur shortly after the waves make Gallio's lab even messier
  • The young girl who shouted "There goes Jane!" had a higher pitched voice while somehow looking exactly like Daffney

Allusions[]

  • The title is a reference to Cyndi Lauper's hit 80's single "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"
  • Jane Flounder parodies Jane Fonda, who was well-known for being a strong feminist at the time this cartoon was made
