"The Wizard Of Ice" is the 22nd episode of Season 4. The snorks meet a fire flame named Ember in dry space, and they help her stop the Ice Wizard form freezing the nearby land snorks.
Plot Summary[]
On dry land, a young boy named Jimmy is playing ball when he drops it outside the dock. He tries to get it, but he ends up nearly drowning. Thankfully, the snorks save him just in the nick of time. He tells his mom that some "sea creatures" saved him, but his mother doesn't believe him. Corky, Junior, Casey, and Jojo end up seeing a forest fire off in the distance. They stop the fire when they meet a flame named Ember, who lives with the island snorks. She tells them that the Ice Wizard froze their island because he has no heart, and all he wants is the gold out of the golden river. They decide to help her out, even if she does cause a mess for them.
They find several ways to get to the island, but all these fail until they finally find a bridge. After enduring a hot air balloon ride with garbage and flying popcorn in the air, they finally get to the other side of the island. The snorks soon learn that the island snorks are frozen cold all because of the Ice Wizard. In fact, they don't even care about the money Junior tried to give them! They later end up inside the castle of the Ice Wizard, where he too freezes the snorks, all except for Junior because of his ego. However, Junior knew better not to be his assistant because money can't buy him friends although he was hesitant at first. Junior burns the cash and helps Ember save his friends. In the end, the island snorks give him some gold as a reward.
Background Info[]
- We learn that snorks can easily stop fire by blowing water out of their snorks
- This marks the first mutual act of kindness Junior did for his friends
- Another river is mentioned (The Golden Dolphin, Salmon Chanted Evening)
- This is also one of those times when Junior said not to tell anyone about him being friendly (The Day They Fixed Junior Wetworth)
Memorable Quotes[]
Corky: Another successful rescue!
Junior: Yeah, but his mom didn't even thank us!
Ember: Sorry to be so much trouble, guys.
Jojo: No trouble at all. I just wish we'd brought some butter and salt. *takes a bite out of the popcorn*
Island Snork: Thanks again, Junior. *comes out with a present* We'd like you to have something to remember us by.
Casey: Oh Junior will never forget this place. It's probably the first, and last, time he'll ever burn money! *laughs*
Errors[]
- Casey claims this is the first time she's seen fire, although it's been referenced many times before, especially with Junior referring to how his mom won't allow him to play with matches (Allstar's Double Trouble, Snork Ahoy)
- At one point, Casey's hair is green and her bows are red
- When they find the shortcut to get to the island, Junior's shoes are completely blue
Allusions[]
- Title references The Wizard of Oz, although there is no resemblence or reference whatsoever in this episode
- The evil Snowman resenmbles an evil version of Frosty the Snowman
- With their lifestyles and house designs, the island snorks strongly resemble the Smurfs, which is ironic because "The Snorks" has gotten a bad rep for being "rip-offs" of the Smurfs
- In fact, the Ice Wizard bares some resemblence to Gargamel in terms of appearance
- Also, the Ice Wizard bears a strong resemblance to the Ice Demon from A Pup Named Scooby Doo (the episode was produced and released around the same time as this episode)
